Senator Pens Part I
When I think of a senator I see in my minds eye two images: the modern American variety and the ancient roman type complete with white toga. Apparently, in the roman republic the senators entered the senate by being elected to a lowly position in the magistracy. Once elected, the senator could then lounge around in his toga and participate in the political mayhem of the day. Is this any different from the modern version, apart from the toga?
We have a senate of pens it seems. Senator pens are produced in Germany and probably rival the Swiss made Prodir pens in that they occupy the same niche of good quality plastic pens with smooth writing properties and classical looks, but having said that, there are some very modern designs amongst these pens.
The Design group of pens include the Challenger, Massimo, Hattrix, Matrix, New Spring and Racer retractable pens. Of these the Challenger pen range can be printed on an Express service. The Massimo has an ergonomic soft grip section and is supplied with gel ink. The Hattrix has a super large capacity ink refill, ergonomic section and a large, curved metal clip. The Hattrix pen can be printed 3600 around the barrel in 1 to 4 colours providing an enormous advertising surface. The Matrix gel ink pen has a very futuristic barrel design with a soft grip section, matt chromium plated metal clip and supplied with gel ink refill. The barrel colours are very sharp being silver metallic, blue metallic or anthracite metallic or transparent red, green and dark blue. The New Spring is a popular pen with its unusual push cap mechanism incorporating a glossy metal clip, super large ink capacity refill and glossy metallic colours. This pen can be printed with a logo on the cap as well on the barrel. Finally in this group there is the Racer, a pen with a really unusual design and finished in those classy metallic colours. Apart form the New Spring Metal all of the pens in this group can be printed on the barrel and the clip. Where pens have a metal clip then the imprint is by heat treatment or etching
A word or two here about the various printing methods might be sensible as Senator is one of the few companies who manufacture and print their own pens. Senator offers a range of print options based upon the design of the pen and the materials used to construct the pen. Some of the pens can be printed with a full colour image wrapped 3600 around the barrel. The photo print service transfers a photo to the barrel of the pen. Other methods of printing include silk screen, tampo printing and the use of special inks on metals to provide a long lived image.
